Project paradigm is my final university project. It is a demo level of the game project paradigm, a third-person action game featuring unique mechanics that have negative or positive side effects on the player. You play through the level upgrading yourself by selecting different paradigm skills, all of which have unique side effects that can make your game harder or easier. The level is linear but can be played in many different ways due to the many different combinations of paradigms skills. This project aims to show off my skills as a GUI and level designer.

About me
Course: BA Computer Games Design
Biography: Throughout my time working on games, I have always had a great passion for UI design, ever since I started my first project on user interfaces. As well as this, I greatly enjoy designing levels and missions to go along with them. Throughout my time at university and personal projects, I have greatly developed my skills in multiple areas. These include UI design, Level design, level block-outs/white boxes, designing missions, 3D asset creation, 2D asset creation and designing game mechanics. I have also Improved my softs skills when working on group projects, such as communication, leadership, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. All projects I have worked on have greatly improved my skills in many areas when designing games. A lot of my projects have allowed me to focus on my abilities as a UI designer, which is a career I’d like to pursue the most.
Software & Hardware proficiencies: Unreal Engine is my most well know game design engine, I have a lot of knowledge in photoshop which I prefer when designing 2D assets for a game user interface. As well as this, I have a good understanding of Maya, Adobe After Effects and illustrator.
Employment, Work experience & Volunteering: I have worked as a chef for over two years, during this time I have insurmountably developed my ability to work under pressure and manage my time effectively, as well as develop my teamwork and communication skills. In addition, I also gained skills in quality control, deadlines and organisation. As when working in a kitchen everything has to be fast, precise and executed to the most extreme precision. As well as this I have also worked in charity for a brief period, during this time I greatly improved my communication and teamwork abilities.
Interests: My main interest is Game user interface design, all areas from menu systems to the player’s heads up display. Although I also enjoy creating levels and designing missions for them. My interest in UI design started when I realised how important the design of UI can be to make or break a game and it fascinated me, it’s extremely important and can have the greatest effect which is what drove me to try and improve my abilities to match the skilled UI design of many previous games.
I also enjoy playing games of all kinds, my interest started in my early days of secondary school, where I began wondering how games worked and it fascinated me, I began coding small game scripts using Python such as hangman and tic-tac-toe. Outside of games, I have a passion for fitness and bodybuilding. In my free time when I’m not playing games, I also enjoy cooking and perfecting my most prized recipe of American style pancakes. Another hobby I greatly enjoy is attending Airsoft on Sundays unfortunately due to the pandemic, I haven’t been able to recently. This has managed to give me key skills in communication, teamwork, strategy and planning.
