The following is a rig I created featuring Maya muscle for my final year project. The goal was to create a rig allowing for realistic animation with a muscle system to supplement it, showcased with a handful of simple animations.

COURSE
BA (Hons) Computer Animation
ABOUT ME
My name is Alex and I’m an aspiring character rigger and animator on my final year at Teesside University. My focus is on rigging but I’m also capable of creating hand animations and working on a motion capture pipeline. I have developed a good understanding of correct character deformation along with the necessary features a rig would need for an animator. I enjoy playing video games and often look into some of the processes of how they’re made (particularly the rigging and animation) to help better my knowledge and gain additional understanding of industry processes.
BIOGRAPHY
I’ve had an interest in game development since college, eventually narrowing my interest to animation and setting my focus on rigging by second year. Among my favourite games are Titanfall 2, Monster Hunter: World and Generation Zero. As a result I enjoy rigging and animating realistic creatures and mechanical characters, but I’m just as happy to rig regular characters.
Being Rigging Lead for Journeyman gave me the opportunity to learn about the rigging and animation pipeline, as well as improve my rigging skills as a whole. I really enjoyed the module and look forward to working with a team again.

INTERESTS
My interests lie in motorsport and cars, model making (Gundam, Warhammer 40k), and video games. Titanfall and Monster Hunter provide a lot of my inspiration and help drive me, but I really enjoy Ace Combat, Gran Turismo and Elite Dangerous.
